The structure of diffLUX® flexible diffusing light guides is particularly effective: they consist of one or more optical plastic fibers, which we treat with a special, patented process so that they can scatter light evenly along their sides. In addition, the ferrule is an essential component of every diffLUX® flexible diffusing light guide. A ferrule is the part where the fibers and the tube are connected. A ferrule is generally made of aluminum, but can also be made of plastic. The fibers are glued or clamped into the ferrule. The ferrule has the task of creating a mechanical connection with a light source. Through it, the light is guided into the fibers. The fibers themselves are enclosed by a protective tube, which is usually white, flexible and diffusing, but can also be transparent or rigid. An end cap closes the protective tube and prevents anything from getting inside.
